LUSD has introduced two new educator Residencies for LUSD alumni and classified staff to achieve single-subject and multiple-subject credentials and Masters’ Degrees. The design of these programs is based on national research the district conducted on best practices for educator residencies.
The Marshall Teacher Residency will prepare educators in performance-based learning environments and supports approved Lindsay graduates and classified staff in pursuing their Single Subject credential and learning how to teach in personalized learning models.
The Alder Teacher Residency program is an innovative and affordable pathway to a full-time teaching career in the Lindsay community. Residents earn their Master’s Degree and a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential in just one year through the Alder Graduate School of Education, while joining a supportive, mentor-based program with an emphasis on social justice and equity.
LUSD partnered with the national nonprofit The Learning Accelerator to conduct a literature review as well as interviews with various systems, residency programs, researchers, and educators to identify the key tenets of effective residency programs as well as the steps required to ensure their successful implementation. LUSD's new residency program reflects the components required to support a diverse group of residents specifically within the innovative learning space. Read the report below.
